Hamida Yusufzai

Hamida is a dedicated advocate and the Director of Banteay Srei. She is committed to the empowerment and success of young Southeast Asian women and girls in Oakland. Her academic and professional journey is marked by the focus on women’s liberation education, sex based violence and trauma informed care. She believes in the transformative power of consciousness raising, sistahood and culturally sensitive curriculum.  Hamida’s work reflects a commitment to building resilience at both individual and societal levels. Beyond her professional achievements, Hamida loves storytelling, and continues to break the silence surrounding rape culture using youth centered resources and language.  She wishes to create a world where every young woman and girl can live free from poverty and exploitation. Her dedication is to justice and her belief – that through collective action, we can create a future where we all live with freedom.
